A Family Entertainer
by Saj4eyes on Oct 16 2008 4:25AM  (IST)

You might be wondering with how the big screen version of “One night at a call center” can be a family entertainer.
Well, this movie entertained the Salman Khan family atleast. His younger brother, elder brother, brother’s i-in law, his own in-law, his girl all are there in the picture…
Adding to that this movie is a 2 hour commercial for HCL computers, Manikchand’s Oxyrich mineral water and Kappa sports wear.
But for others, this is waste money.
The performances are average. Sharman is ok but Sohail shines a Vroom, Gul Panag looks stunning rarely but she is not getting any younger. Isha did justice to her role, Amritha Arora’s sentimental scenes will make you cry for the lack of sentiments in her face ….
But the all imperative scene where all the 6 central characters get the call from God lacks intensity. The call comes in a moment where all the 6 are supposed to be down in the dumps, but the director fails to make the audience believe the same. I have not read the story, so I dint had any picture in my mind's eye about the novel, yet this movie failed to amuse ….

hello
by Vinay on Oct 14 2008 6:22AM  (IST)

well i went to watch the movie after reading horrible reviews in Hindustan times,TOI etc only becos i loved the book and also as i like chetan very much.but the film wasnt that bad to me.infact it was quiet good.sharman was v good.so was sohail(surprisingly).the girls were ok.so was the boss and military uncle.salman and katrina were on cameos.though i thought katrina's potrayal as God cud hav been more dramatic.the music and songs were a punishment to the ear.it was disgusting to say the least.i think people who havent read the book wud like it more as they dont know the story prior to watching the movie.i also wonder how the film would hav turned out if the story was narrated thru the eyes of sharman as in the movie.the movie cud have been more intense and this cud hav been acheived by increasing the pace of the movie.some good camera work was missing.dialogues were good.especially the funny ones.some dialogues which were important in the book hav been ignored..for eg the dialogues where shyaam and vroom say that it wud be good if the youth were employed in some project which benefited the our country(eg building underground trains, flyovers etc) instead of licking American shoes even though the pay would be less in the former types of jobs.overall a 3/5 film.pessimis....i mean critics wudnt agree with my rating but its always chalenging to convert a book into a film that too for Indian public.

Chetan Bhagat - see the caliber of the director before you permit ur book to be made a movie --pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
by Divya on Oct 13 2008 7:02AM  (IST)

I have a collectors copy of the book One night @ call centre ,and am hugely dissappointed by the way the whole story has been portrayed by Atul Agnihotri!A total waste of time especially if you have read and book and are expecting something similar in the movie.
