For a man who literally has become a reference point for an innovation in Indian cinema, Big B aka Amitabh Bachchan completed 40 years of his successful association with the world of cinema and he still is writing new stories, creating new benchmarks for the matrix of performance and setting targets that would be difficult to overhaul for anybody. After all how many of the current crop of the actors would be able to sustain the charisma that Big B has over the Indian population, fan following transcending the barriers of generation.

Fittingly enough, he returned with a panache in his new avatar on the television in BIG BOSS-III and it is towering persona combined with chivalry and humility that would be catalytic factor in increasing the TRP ratings of this serial if they do indeed?

He literally set the trend wherever he went, be it as an action star, as a comedian, as a singer, as a character actor, as a television star, or as a star doing live shows all across the world. His political debut was only one area where he did not meet the expected success, but it was not owing to lack of efforts on his part, rather it was owing to the external factors, and the pain that he endured from it was brought out in rather a dignified manner through the columns that he wrote for a newspaper. It was the first sign of having a detail for the words, and it also morphed into a brilliant debut when he began blogging. It was another first, followed by his co-stars, but the pace of updating the columns on a regular basis that he has set for himself, has not been matched by his other fellow bloggers from the world of cinema in the cyber world.

He is also one of the rare few actors in the world who has had large number of handshakes with death, but he has stared it in the eyes and has comeback with vigor, as if this handshake is a new life that he has obtained.

Is it an audacity of hope that he be considered for lifetime achievements at the Oscars? May be, his time is around the corner, owing to the fact that Hollywood has started taking keen interest in Indian operations, therefore they are not better positioned to understand the esteem of Big B in the world of Hindi cinema and therefore could be in a position to bring about their influence to make it happen. After all, in his 40th year of association with the world of grease paint, Big B has decided to play the role of a 13 year old character, a role that he never played earlier. These are the kind of innovative approached that Hollywood appreciates, and one only hopes that it gets due recognition. Even if he does not get it, the legendary fan following that he has is more than the compensation for getting awarded with Oscars.
