For me, the question topmost in my mind is what did Esha Deol see in a bit role as an airhostess in HIJACK? The talented actress is facing an acute drought of good scripts. In the bargain, she is, I believe, to be in circulation, jumping onto 'any' script. It will be a sheer waste if she is seen in movies like these and CASH, which was released last year. She is far too talented to be used in a manner like this. On second thoughts, the industry seems to be going the same way. Look at some of the roles Paresh Rawal, Anupam Kher, Kay Kay Menon and others of their ilk are seen in at most times. Can't really blame them.
Coming back to the film, it's a remix of DIE HARD part one, AIR FORCE ONE and CON AIR. Same old story, bad guys get hold of an aircraft, demand release of their pals, start shooting hostages until one man finally saves them. In DIE HARD you had Bruce Willis playing the saviour, while here you have Shiny Ahuja, whose daughter is aboard the hijacked aircraft, playing the part of Willis.
Another ridiculous twist in the tale is the Chief of ATS in India, is actually 'Abdulla' who is in charge of the terror network. Very difficult to digest. This is straight out of the 90s script when anything in the name of script would do.
A few good action scenes are all what this movie is worth, and thanks in the main for this to Allan Amin, the action director. Otherwise, in form, substance or acting, it offers nothing. The editing is not upto the mark and the building of character, sketchy at best.
When you watch this flick, everything falls in place and you understand why there has been no marketing. The makers themselves did not believe in this product.
