What made SRK accept CHAKDE! INDIA

 For the first time in his career, Shah Rukh Khan has done a film for the Yash Raj banner that has not been directed either by Yash or Aditya Chopra. While different reasons are being thrown around as to why SRK opted for an 'off-beat' film like CHAKDE! INDIA, we decided to bring you the views of the man himself.
As per the superstar, two main reasons made him accept the project. Firstly, he wanted to work with the talented Shimit Amin, who was also associated with his home banner project, ASOKA, as director: making-of documentary. The second reason is obvious; being an avid sports enthusiast and also a college level sportsman himself, Shah Rukh wanted to do a sports based movie, to continue the glorious legacy set by the likes of HIP HIP HURRAY (football), LAGAAN (cricket) and IQBAL (cricket).
So with such illustrious projects, as mentioned above, why another one? It is simple! The neglected national sports, hockey, needed urgent attention and that coupled with Jaideep Sahni's superb script made Shah Rukh accept CHAKDE! INDIA, despite not so bright commercial prospects, initially.
While on CHAKDE! INDIA, the movie is all set to release in India with 475-500 prints.
