Even though OM SHANTI OM and SAAWARIYA have been hogging all the limelight and making most of the news in the month gone by, last few weeks would also go down as the time span when there was a DVD boom at the stands.

November itself has seen the DVDs of two big hits of 2007 arriving on the stands - CHAK DE! INDIA and HEYY BABYY. Already selling like hot cakes, they come soon after the end of their theatrical run. Also available for home entertainment of Bollywood fans are the DVDs of DHAMAAL and DHOL, both of which tickled the funny bone when seen in theaters and are now making their presence felt amongst the family audience.

Some of the serious films which weren't successful at the box office but are expected to do well at least on the DVD circuits are DHOKHA and GANDHI MY FATHER. Though each of the films is having a moderate outing at the stands with the aforementioned films making the most of their popularity, they are expected to be steady at the counters.

On the other hand AWARAPAN, which has seen a rather late DVD release, has been so reasonably priced that it would be hard to resist owning a copy of your own. NANHE JAISALMER and VICTORIA NO. 203 have arrived during the last fortnight as well though there are doubts if they would be able to make much of an impression even for home viewing.

Before 2007 comes to an end, one waits to see the arrival of films like BHOOL BHULAIYAA, JAB WE MET, LAAGA CHUNARI MEIN DAAG, JOHNNY GADDAAR and DIL DOSTI ETC, each of which is expected to find a good share of audience for itself.
