After receiving ‘The German Star of India’ as the best feature film at the Stuttgart Festival, APNA ASMAAN again hits the news by making its way in the San Luis Cine Festival International (Argentina). This sensitive film with a universal appeal has for the first time created an entry for Hindi films in the hitherto unexplored Latin American sector. With an exceptional cast – Irrfan Khan Shobana (mega star from the South in her first Hindi film), new find Dhruv Panjuani, Rajat Kapoor and Anupam Kher, APNA ASMAAN is all set for an all India theatrical release on September 7. The distribution is being handled by Sony Pictures and the music is being marketed by Saregama.

Elated with the news, Writer Director Kaushik Roy says, “When iDreams, our International Sales Agent, shared the film with the San Luis Festival people at the Cannes Market we had no idea that that an Indian film could be picked up for a festival in Argentina. Now we know that we have the chances of expanding the Indian film footprint in a completely new market. This just means that anybody making a sensible film with a relevant story can reach out across the world. This is really a proud moment for all of us.”

This film is about a handicapped teenager's journey to be loved and admired for what he is capable of rather then what his parents want him to be. Quite appropriately, APNA ASMAAN provokes its viewers with a tagline “How far would you go to make your child a genius?” While maintaining the sensibilities of an urban family drama this engaging and thought-provoking film keeps the audience riveted to their seats with a surprise at every bend.
