Leading costume designer Ashley Rebello is in news. Ever since the release of 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa', he has been winning accolades for the designs that he created for all the characters in the film that is fast creating fashion statement. Moreover, he is also responsible for Salman Khan's look in 'Dus Ka Dum'.
In the fashion circuit for 15 years and having worked with the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Mallika Sherawat, Sushmita Sen, Karisma Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Sonali Bendre amongst others, he has now moved to his latest client Rakhi Sawant. He has been entrusted with the responsibility of dressing her up for 'The Rakhi Sawant Show'.
"She is such a sweetheart and she speaks her mind", says Ashley who promises to come up with a new look for the 'bindaas' girl. "When we started working together, I wanted to know from her about her taste and what exactly was she looking for."
What did she reply?
"Well, she just told me that 'Ashley, I want an image makeover. Now it is up to you that how do you want to design a new look for me. If I tell you that this is what I want and that's the way I want to look, then there won't be any fun'", recollects Ashley.
"You won't find many celebrities out there who would be so very willing to leave yourself in the hands of someone else. However, Rakhi turned out to be really different. She is a very clean-at-heart personality."
One wonders though whether by giving Rakhi an entirely new look, whether Ashley would be depriving her fans of the hot image that she carries. "Oh, don't worry about that at all", laughs Ashley, "I have made sure that for all those millions of viewers out there, there is plenty to look forward to. Pun intended. Expect a lot of T&A show."
So how does the entire 'image makeover' thing work then?
"You would see that for yourself on the show", winks Ashley, "There is going to be skin show because it goes with the name Rakhi Sawant. Still, it would be done in a classy manner. There would be a lot to see but as a viewer, you would be left asking for more. Isn't that how a costume should be?"
