''Huge opening of JANNAT means a lot to us'' - Emraan Hashmi

JANNAT has taken a huge opening all over and it is only going to be 'mauja hi mauja' from here on for this Emraan Hashmi starrer. Reason? Not just the film stays on as the only release of the week, the days to come would also be hardly throwing much challenge on its way.

Coming Friday sees three films coming together but none of them appear to be competition enough for this yet another winner coming from the house of Vishesh Films. Animation flick GHATOTKACH is for a particular segment of audience - children - while DHOOM DADAKKA and DON MUTHUSWAMI have hardly been promoted enough to create a buzz amongst the audience.

Both being comedies, DHOOM DADAKKA may still tickle a few funny bones but DON MUTHUSWAMI looks as tacky as JIMMY (to put it politely), in spite of presence of Mithun Chakarborty.

The week to follow i.e. 30th May too would have as many as three releases but by that time JANNAT would have earned enough to make it a profit making preposition. Again, none of the three releases are that huge which could completely curtail the victory march of JANNAT that has a first time director Kunal Deshmukh at the helm.

HASTEY HASTEY, WOODSTOCK VILLA and ZINDAGI TERE NAAM are the three films which arrive and decent promotion for the first two means that they would be noticed at least. However, ZINDAGI TERE NAAM looks like an absolute goner, regardless of the film being pitched as a Mithun Chakravorty-Ranjeeta comeback.

This leaves JANNAT to continue making hay till SARKAR RAJ arrives on 6th June.

Tell Emraan Hashmi about this and he says with a wide grin, "Huge opening of JANNAT means a lot to all of us here at Vishesh Films. It isn't every day when a film takes an opening of the kind of a RACE or a WELCOME, and that too in the middle of IPL. For the biggest of the films, the morning shows at multiplexes are 40-50% occupied but in case of JANNAT the occupancy read 80%. I am still trying to figure out how big JANNAT should turn out to be eventually."
