Images of the beautiful snow capped mountains of Himachal Pradesh, with Kareena Kapoor dancing on the road to the Rohtang Pass, singing ''Yeh Ishq Hai'' from JAB WE MET left the viewers asking for more. And just like everything connected with the movie, the cinematography too came in for a lot of praise from all quarters. This Friday's big release, Saif Ali Khan's LOVE AAJ KAL, had similar feedbacks as JAB WE MET and also marked the return of not only Imtiaz as the director but also his favourite cinematographer, N. Nataraja Subramanian.
CHECK OUT: LOVE AAJ KAL Movie Review
Nataraja was born in Karaikudi in Tamil Nadu and also acted as a lead in a few Tamil films. But it was his passion for photography that really set the tone for his career as a cinematographer. His family had no clue at all about filmmaking but Nataraja continued his quest and asked V. Ranga, a reputed cinematographer in Chennai to hire him as an assistant. He later went on to shoot for Anurag Kashyap's BLACK FRIDAY and Vidhu Vinod Chopra's PARINEETA and EKLAVYA.
Although known for imparting slickness to his movies, Nataraja says that for Imtiaz, characters are foremost, the visuals come in next. He goes on to say, ''LOVE AAJ KAL is not the usual run-of-the mill love story where actors sit under trees or dance on the streets abroad. It's a very believable love story.'' They shot the film in six locations - Delhi, Kolkata, Rajasthan, London and San Francisco.
With LOVE AAJ KAL setting the ticket window on fire, it appears that the Nataraja-Imtiaz team has another winner on hand.
