It's Urvashi Sharma's turn to do a 'Beedi Jalaile'

She began her big screen career with a bang when NAQAAB released a couple of years back. Though this Abbas-Mustan directed thriller didn't quite click at the box office, Urvashi Sharma was noticed by one and all, both within and outside the industry. Now she returns with Ashuu Trikha directed BAABARR where not does she have a full fledged role but also a quintessential item number a la 'Beedi Jalaile' [Omkara].
"Yes, I have an item number in the film and it is called 'Jab Baje Raat Ke Baraah'", confirms Urvashi, "However, since the film is shot is quite realistic in it's treatment, the song too comes with a reason. It's not like a dream sequence that just comes as filler in the narrative. It only adds to the film rather than hampering the proceedings."
What is noticeable is the fact that the song follows exactly from the point where 'Beedi Jalaile' left. Whether it's the small town setting or the choreography or the men dancing around with rifles in hands or the entire 'latak-jhatak' act, 'Jab Baje....' doesn't make any attempts 'not' to look similar.

"Well, for me personally it was quite a challenge to get into this mode. Since I come from a modelling background, playing a chic urban girl comes naturally to me. However, it was quite an effort for me to get into the skin of a small town girl. More so for this item number because the character is very different from what she appears in the song", she elaborates.
"Ziya (the name of her character) is someone who has never gone beyond the four lanes surrounding her house and comes from a lower middle class background. It was tough identifying with her because personally I have travelled abroad so much and it's like a piece of cake. It was hard to imagine the psyche of Ziya."
Produced by Sunil Saini and Mukesh Shah, BAABARR, which has music by Anand Raaj Anand, is all set to release on 11th September.
