Imtiaz Ali: I am not interested in acting

With that great height, enviable built, flowing locks and a face that could make women swoon, Imtiaz Ali is just an unlikely candidate for being a film director. Though he has played a small part in BLACK FRIDAY (remember Yakub Menon), the man is known more for his directorial effort in JAB WE MET and SOCHA NA THA. However, his women fans have been hoping over the years that he would don the hat of a leading man one day.
So does he believe that he has it in him to face the camera as a quintessential Bollywood hero?
Laughs Imtiaz, ''Nahi yaar, acting ka keeda toh kayi saal pehle nikal gaya (acting bug no more bites me). I have done quite a lot of it in my college days as well as theater. However, even in those days I used to enjoy direction more. So this kind of stuck on with me due to which I have no plans to face the camera.''

While his response is certainly going to disappoint quite a few fans and followers of his, Imtiaz states the reason behind his decision.
''I don't want to put my feet into two different boats; that's definitely not going to help. When I came to Mumbai, I had to decide what I wanted to do. And this is when I concluded that let me follow what I like doing more. The answer was 'direction' and I stuck to it'', details Imtiaz.
Well, as long as he can deliver yet another blockbuster entertainer in LOVE AAJ KAL, one won't really mind his absence as an actor!
