Director Rumi Jaffery has written quite a few David Dhawan films in the past. This is why it is being widely speculated that his second directorial venture LIFE PARTNER (he had come up with GOD TUSSI GREAT HO last year) too would be treading the same path that has been laid out by David Dhawan in last couple of decades.
''Not really'', negates Tusshar Kapoor, one of the leading men in LIFE PARTNER, ''The film isn't the kind that you associate with David Dhawan cinema. He has made out and out comedies in the past whereas Rumi-ji (Jaffery) has made a conscious attempt not to make LIFE PARTNER look like an out and out comedy. Not just is our film entirely different from David-ji's films, it is also not slapstick at all.''

With Govinda as one of the leading men, comparisons are bound to happen though, isn't it?
''But even performances are also very different in LIFE PARTNER'', Tusshar defends again, ''Yes, it's an energetic outing for sure, just like the kind that one associates with David Dhawan, but then let me also add that it is all very controlled. Rumi-ji has kept things quite realistic.''
On a parting note, Tusshar makes another interesting observation.
''If you look at the movies that have been made by David-ji, he has primarily worked with men like Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan or Govinda. On the other hand Rumi-ji took on board primarily younger breed like Genelia D'Souza, Amrita Rao, Prachi Desai, Fardeen Khan or myself. That also pretty much demonstrates the difference in sensibilities''.
