Sujoy reveals ALADIN's first poster

Director Sujoy Ghosh is mighty excited about his upcoming film ALADIN. And that is quite evident from the way he is promoting his film. First place he created a special blog to give the movie aficionados an insight into the magnanimous task of making an epic film like ALADIN.
Now the enthusiastic filmmaker has come up with unique film posters on his blog. Normally filmmakers prefer to disclose only those pictures/images/posters of the film which are ultimately finalized. But our prolific director Sujoy had his own mind. He decide on sharing some of his first concept drawings for the film when the project was just started (way back in 2005), and was much different from the present ALADIN.

Sujoy reveals, ''When I and my co-writer Ritesh Shah started to write about ALADIN, the first thing we did was we made ourselves a poster which would help us further in building up the story. A visual really helps when you are staring from a gaping blank wall. And it was done by my friend Sucharita who incidentally put all my concepts on paper. We then did one more iteration after the first draft was ready. To include 'Gamal', the main man who was going to wreck havoc on earth on behalf of the forty thieves. Incidentally 'Gamal' was the name of the leader of the thieves in 'Alibaba and 40 Thieves'''
Further on Sujoy also added about how the naming of the Big B's character was done, ''One of the biggest hurdles was to find a name for the Genie. Any writer will know the hardest part of writing is to come up with names. Suresh Nair, my friend and co writer, found out that the word 'GENIUS' is a derivative of the word 'GENIE'. Problem solved. Our Genie was named 'Genius'.''
