Just about a week back, we had said in our column that Saif Ali Khan was in talks with Imtiaz Ali about LOVE AAJ KAL, much before JAB WE MET released, and we had also promised to bring you more info on that topic, which may sound amazing but is absolutely true.

Yes, Saif was discussing LOVE AAJ KAL with Imtiaz during the post-production of JAB WE MET and before it went on to become a big success. Imtiaz reveals that he was in talks with Saif, the lead actor of his latest film, LOVE AAJ KAL, even before JAB WE MET commenced. In fact, he reveals that he narrated a lot of stories to Saif, including that of JAB WE MET, but somehow things did not work out. He met Saif again during the post production of JAB WE MET and narrated the idea of LOVE AAJ KAL, which appealed to the Chhote Nawab instantly and he gave his go ahead.
As we had said, who could have thought that Saif would refuse a film like JAB WE MET, but the film industry is really unpredictable. His loss was Shahid Kapur's gain! We have had numerous instances of big stars turning down iconic films, amongst a few that come to mind are Dilip Kumar turning down PYAASA, and Aamir Khan refusing to do DARR. Both these films went on to create box office history. All we can hope for the sake of Saif that LOVE AAJ KAL would prove to be another JAB WE MET for Saif, as it his first home production, under the Illuminati banner. All the best Saif!
