Sammir Dattani, who has recently been in the news for being cast in a triangular love-story being produced by Karan Johar, that also stars Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor, now has another big reason to smile. His film WELL DONE ABBA directed by none other than Shyam Benegal is being showcased from tomorrow at the 33rd Montreal World Film Festival.
WELL DONE ABBA (Stolen Well) will be screened tomorrow September 5, 6, 7 and has been selected for the 'World Greats' section in the Montreal World Film Festival. The goal of the Montreal World Film Festival (Montreal International Film Festival) is to encourage cultural diversity and understanding among nations, to foster the cinema of all continents by stimulating the development of quality cinema, to promote filmmakers and innovative works, to discover and encourage new talents, and to promote meetings between cinema professionals from around the world.
CHECK OUT: WELL DONE ABBA is tongue in cheek
WELL DONE ABBA is Benegal's Dakkani film in the comic, ironic vein. The film stars Sammir Dattani, Minissha Lamba and Boman Irani. Ashok Mishra has written the screen-play while music has been scored by Shantanu Moitra. The lyrics have been penned by Ashok Mishra, Swanand Kirkire and Ila Arun.
WELL DONE ABBA is an engaging story of Armaan Ali, a driver working in Mumbai. He takes leave for a month to find a husband for his teenage daughter, who lives in a small locality close to Hyderabad. Armaan Ali returns to work only after 3 months. His young employer wants to sack him but is persuaded to listen to the reason why Armaan got so delayed.
Says Sammir, ''It's an honour to have the film showcased at a prestigious festival such as the Montreal World Film Festival.''
The film is set to release in theatres across India in December.
