Priyanka Chopra: Ashutosh Gowariker is a genius

In a few hours from now, WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? would be released in theaters. The film is being noticed most for Priyanka Chopra's 12 roles in the film. Time and again one hears a statement that for such and such role, an actor got under the skin of the character. One can't help but ask Priyanka that 'How many skins did she have to get into, considering the fact that there were 12 characters to play?'

'Actually it's a joke when you say that for a particular role, you had to get into the skin of the character to get the performance right', laughs Priyanka, 'Honestly, acting in a movie is much beyond that. Take for example KAMINEY. There I had only eight scenes but I knew that it was very-very important for me to get it all right and make each of the scenes real. There was no margin of error and I had to portray the character perfectly.'

'Same holds good for WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? too where each of the girls is just there for about 15-20 minutes', she adds, 'She may have one or at maximum two scenes to her credit. Still, even in that limited screen space, I had to get the characterization true.'

After DOSTANA which was a good success for her, now Priyanka has another rom-com in the shape of WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE?. How has the transition been?

'I am quite excited about the overall experience, more so because this is the first rom-com for Ashu. I am sure he too is very excited to see how audiences respond to this venture of his after mega films like JODHAA AKBAR, SWADES and LAGAAN', says Priyanka, 'I don't think anybody else would have been able to pull off WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? the way he has managed to. Here each girl had to belong to a different world and he has shown it all so convincingly. This is nothing lesser than an art in itself since the detailing has been so very fine. Ashu is indeed a genius.'
