Housefull 5 has made quite a splash at the international box office, raking in around USD 4.25 million (Rs. 36.50 crore) during its opening weekend. This marks the highest international debut for any Akshay Kumar film, surpassing the previous record set by Good Newwz, which earned USD 3.60 million.
The Eid holidays played a significant role in boosting the film’s impressive start, particularly in the Middle East, where it pulled in USD 1.825 million — a franchise record that beats Housefull 3’s USD 1.38 million.
Strong Markets: Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand
Beyond the Middle East, Housefull 5 also performed remarkably well in New Zealand and Fiji, where comedies usually resonate well. It garnered NZD 287K (USD 175,000), landing it among the top ten Bollywood openings in that region. Australia also contributed positively with AUD 525K (USD 340,000).
In the United Kingdom, the film earned GBP 315K (USD 425,000) a solid figure, though it fell short of the desired GBP 400K+ benchmark.
North America Underwhelms
Unfortunately, the movie didn’t quite hit the mark in North America, bringing in USD 685,000 from the United States and USD 350,000 from Canada. Combined, these figures are roughly half of what Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 made in the same territory, highlighting a notable shortfall.
Future Outlook: Strong But Not Exceptional Legs Expected
With a current overseas total of USD 4.25 million, the film is on track to finish with over USD 7.5 million internationally. While a final tally of USD 9–10 million seemed possible, the boost from the Eid holiday and the weekend trends suggest a more moderate sustainability.
Still, considering the franchise’s value and the hefty production costs, Housefull 5’s overseas performance is a promising step forward for Akshay Kumar’s appeal at the international box office.
