Awarapan 2 has seen a major slowdown at the Indian box office during its third week. The Emraan Hashmi starrer collected Rs. 5.50 crore nett in its third week, recording an 80 per cent drop compared with its second week. The fall in collections has come as the film enters the final stage of its theatrical run and faces competition from Hanuman Ansh, which has emerged as a major attraction for moviegoers.
Despite the slowdown, Awarapan 2 has maintained a strong overall run. The film’s India nett collection has now reached Rs. 145.75 crore. With Mirzapur arriving in cinemas today, the romantic action drama is expected to face another major challenge at the box office.
The film is now looking to cross the Rs. 150 crore nett mark during its full theatrical run. If it manages to maintain some business over the next couple of weeks, it could reach the milestone. However, if the collections fall sharply because of new releases, the film could finish slightly below Rs. 150 crore.
Even with the recent drop, Awarapan 2 has already been classified as a Super Hit venture. The film has also become the biggest grosser of Emraan Hashmi’s career when his solo releases are considered. Its performance has come as an important boost for the actor after a long period without a Clean HIT.
The success of Awarapan 2 has once again brought attention to Emraan Hashmi’s box office standing. The actor will next appear in Gunmaster G9, where he will share the screen with Genelia Deshmukh and Aparshakti Khurrana.
The upcoming film will give Emraan another opportunity to continue his recent box office momentum. For now, Awarapan 2 is heading towards the final stage of its theatrical run, with Rs. 150 crore remaining the next major target.
