Himesh Reshammiya’s spoof-action movie Badass Ravi Kumar has had a bumpy ride at the box office. After a good opening, the movie could not sustain its pace and could not impress the audience in the long term. Keith Gomes directed the movie, which opened well with ₹2.75 crore on the first day due to low ticket prices, but the figures soon dropped. By the close of its first weekend, Badass Ravi Kumar had collected ₹6.25 crore, and in its first week, the total collection was below ₹8 crore.

As days went by, the box office figures of the film kept dipping, and with new releases such as Chhaava and Captain America: Brave New World taking over the screens, Badass Ravi Kumar is likely to conclude its run in theaters with a total of less than ₹10 crore, making it one of the worst performers among recent Bollywood releases.

Potential for OTT Success

Though Badass Ravi Kumar tanked at the box office, Himesh Reshammiya has managed to recover the film’s production budget through non-theatrical rights transactions. The film’s eccentric dialogues and over-the-top action scenes are creating buzz on social media and generating curiosity towards its OTT release. People who appreciate the offbeat style of Himesh Reshammiya can look forward to a cult audience for the movie once it goes on streaming sites.

The producers are likely to make the OTT release announcement shortly, where Badass Ravi Kumar might find a second life and get its audience online.
