Loveyapa’s Box Office struggles continue! Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor’s film gets overshadowed by Sanam Teri Kasam

Loveyapa, directed by Advait Chandan, marks a three-year return for the filmmaker. One of the stars in the romantic comedy is Junaid Khan, which is Aamir Khan’s elder son, and Khushi Kapoor is Sridevi’s younger daughter. The film was predicted to make a strong entry in theatres, but sadly, it has not been able to garner good feedback due to strong competition from other releases.

Box-Office Performance Stumbles

Loveyapa was released on February 7, but it had no hype or buzz for a successful run. The film’s failure was also compounded by the unexpected success of the re-released Sanam Teri Kasam that is doing exceedingly well at the box office. Badass Ravi Kumar also posed competition for Loveyapa.

After spending a week in cinemas, Loveyapa continues to struggle for traction, netting just ₹5.45 crore in its first six days. Earnings on Day 7 also gave insufficient traction, and the total first-week collection will be in the range of under ₹6 crore, one of the weaker hits in recent timings.

A 21st-Century Love Story Featuring Fresh Faces

Loveyapa narrates the meeting and love story of Gaurav (Junaid Khan) and Bani (Khushi Kapoor), who plan on getting married while personal struggles obstruct their path to love and partnership. Their lives take an unexpected turn when both the youngsters swap phones, leading to random revelations. The film seems targeted toward the Gen-Z audience and, therefore, does not seem to work as originally envisaged.

Also, classic actors like Ashutosh Rana, Grusha Kapoor and Kiku Sharda are in important roles. Loveyapa also marks the debut of both Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor in theatres.

What Went Wrong?

The new pairings, along with lack of wager since the important contributors were either not available or unable to commit, made the film languish at the box office amidst stiff competition from others. The once-charming audience pick-up care popularly in theaters, while Loveyapa lost steam.
