Mirzapur: The Movie box office: Wednesday hold keeps Rs. 250 crore target alive

Mirzapur: The Movie collects Rs. 12 crore nett on Wednesday, taking its 6 day total to Rs. 135 crore and keeping its Rs. 250 crore blockbuster target alive.

Mirzapur: The Movie has passed an important test at the box office after recording a steady collection on its first Wednesday. The film collected Rs. 12 crore nett approx, which was a 20 per cent drop from Tuesday. The Monday comparison is even more encouraging, with the Wednesday drop standing at 25 per cent. At this level of business, the drop is considered normal and is actually better than what could usually be expected.

Wednesday is often an important day for films that have shown strong numbers during the opening days. Several recent releases have seen their collections fall sharply on Wednesday even after maintaining a good hold on Monday and Tuesday. Mirzapur: The Movie has managed to avoid such a drop and has maintained a steady pace through the first half of the week.

The film’s Wednesday collection is also on par with Border 2. However, Border 2 had opened at a level around 40 per cent higher than Mirzapur: The Movie and was also around 30 per cent ahead on Tuesday. The comparison therefore gives an indication of the strong trend shown by Mirzapur: The Movie despite starting from a lower level.

After six days, Mirzapur: The Movie has collected Rs. 135 crore nett approx in India. The first week is expected to finish at around Rs. 145 crore nett. The next major point to watch will be the film’s second Friday and how much its collections grow over the following weekend.

The film’s trend is currently stronger than Border 2. That film added Rs. 95 crore nett after its first week. Mirzapur: The Movie could also benefit from the Ganesh Chaturthi holidays on Monday and Tuesday, which may help the film maintain its momentum in the second week.

Based on the current trend, Mirzapur: The Movie is on course to cross Rs. 250 crore nett in its lifetime box office run. If it reaches that level, the film should have enough business to be classified as a BLOCKBUSTER.
