Sky Force, Akshay Kumar’s highly anticipated aerial action film, has finally hit the big screen on January 24. Set against the backdrop of India’s first airstrike during the 1965 Indo-Pakistani war, the film tells the story of India’s retaliatory attack on Pakistan’s Sargodha airbase. The film features Akshay Kumar in the role of Wing Commander K.O. Ahuja, alongside debutante Veer Pahariya as T.K. Vijaya. Sara Ali Khan and Nimrat Kaur play the wives of the two lead characters.

Produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios, Sky Force had a decent opening on Friday, thanks to attractive ticket pricing across various platforms, with rates as low as 20 to 50 rupees, including convenience fees. The film’s performance has been boosted by this strategy, and if it garners strong word-of-mouth, it’s expected to see a surge in footfalls in the coming days. Additionally, the Republic Day holiday is likely to further benefit the film, as more cinegoers are expected to visit theaters.

The film marks a significant return for Akshay Kumar after a series of disappointing films. Following cameo roles in Singham Again and Stree 2, Sky Force is seen as a solid comeback for the superstar. On the other hand, the film faces competition from the re-release of Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama and the Hindi version of the Telugu film Daaku Maharaaj, both hitting theaters on the same day.

Sky Force will need consistent positive feedback and strong trending for the next three weeks to be considered a successful venture. The film is co-directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Anil Kapur and marks Veer Pahariya’s acting debut.
