Mufasa roars at the Box Office! Shah Rukh Khan and Mahesh Babu’s voice magic earns Rs 1.25 Crore on Day 19

Mufasa: The Lion King, the animated musical drama from Walt Disney Pictures, and directed by Barry Jenkins, is performing exceptionally well at the box office since its release. Till its third week, the prequel to the 2019 *The Lion King* has collected Rs 116.10 crore in India and is among the highest-grossing Hollywood films of 2024.

The film opened well in India, with its first two weeks collecting Rs 106 crore. Even in its third week, Mufasa continued to do well, with collections of Rs 8.85 crore by Monday, and it added Rs 1.25 crore on Day 19, taking its total earnings in India to Rs 116.10 crore. The film was successful not just due to the international appeal it has garnered, but also, a huge fraction of its profit comes from India, where the film has also received a wonderful following.

Amongst the other significant reasons that contribute to the popularity of the movie in India, it includes being voiced over by Indian superstars Shah Rukh Khan in Hindi and Mahesh Babu in Telugu. In terms of the overall ranking of Hollywood films in India, Mufasa: The Lion King has now surpassed Furious 7’s lifetime earnings which were at Rs 138 crores, securing its spot as the 10th highest-grossing Hollywood film in India. It stands at an estimated gross of Rs 139 crores, and now targets to surpass Avatar (2009), which grossed Rs 149 crores. While it has a remote possibility of overtaking Oppenheimer at the Indian box office, which stands at Rs 157.5 crore, steady growth suggests that it will continue to attract audiences in the coming weeks.
