The epic film earned over Rs. 5 crore during its sixth weekend, recording a drop of around 13 per cent compared with the previous weekend. With the latest weekend collections, The Odyssey has reached a running gross total of Rs. 221.75 crore in India. A large part of the film’s current business is now coming from IMAX screenings. The premium format has continued to attract audiences, and the movie is expected to remain in IMAX theatres for at least the next couple of weeks.
However, the film could face a major change next weekend with the arrival of Toxic. The new release is expected to take over several IMAX screens, which could result in a significant drop in The Odyssey’s collections. There is also a possibility that Nolan’s film could return to IMAX screens later. If that happens, it could help the movie move closer to Rs. 230 crore by the end of its theatrical run.
