Ajith Kumar’s film faces Valentines Day Blues! Vidaamuyarchi’s Box Office collection takes a hit

Ajith Kumar’s latest action-loaded entertainer, ‘Vidaamuyarchi,’ has had a fair run in theatres until now. But with romance being the major thrust this Valentine’s Day (February 14), the collected number has since fallen a bit as the film crossed mid-week succumbing to its earlier heightened momentum. The mid-week dip seems to have affected Day 8 numbers, though they seem to hold their own.

Opening Day Vs. Current Earnings
On its opening day, ‘Vidaamuyarchi’ grossed a steep Rs. 26 crores net. However, according to Sacnilk, one of the leading box-office analysts in India, on Friday, the film made a paltry Rs 1.47 crore (Day 8). This is a far lower figure than the collections that had been in the region of Rs 3 crores a day before. Nonetheless, at the domestic level, it has till now made an inspiring Rs 74.22 crores.

Occupancy and Global Collection variables, after some champions’ years
‘Vidaamuyarchi’ recorded an overall Tamil occupancy of 15.83%, with morning shows scoring a mere 13.63% and slightly better in afternoon shows at 18.98%. The film, while showing fluctuations on the domestic front, managed to cross the Rs 125 crores mark worldwide, a veritable feather in the cap.

Yet Another Thrilling Remaking with a Star-studded Cast
Directed by Magizh Thirumeni and released on February 6, 2025, ‘Vidaamuyarchi’ is a remake of the 1997 American film ‘Breakdown’, which volleys on the edge-of-the-seat survival of a man after his wife gets kidnapped deep inside Azerbaijan.

Ajith Kumar, having about 60 blockbuster films in a long-standing career, leads along with Trisha, Arjun Sarja, and Regina Cassandra. The nail-biting tale alongside the added star power keeps ‘Vidaamuyarchi’ set to haul pole vaulting up through the box office charts, yet remains the latest draw in the winner’s roster.
