Vidaamuyarchi, starring Ajith Kumar in the lead role, still struggles at the box office. The film directed by Magizh Thirumeni made a slow start in the box office. It was pegged to perform in opening Rs 25.50 crore in Tamil Nadu but failed to capitalize on this initial momentum.
After long first weekend collections of Rs 61 crore, the film started its decline. It was able to collect around another Rs 11.50 crore from Monday to Thursday, pushing the film’s first-week total to Rs 72.50 crore gross in Tamil Nadu.

Second-week Trends: Valentine’s Day Collection
In its second week, it was expected on Valentine Day to see some boost. Morning shows had poor occupancy. It is suggested that Vidaamuyarchi would score something in the range of Rs 1.5 crore to Rs 2 crores today, taking the 9-day total to around Rs 74 crore in Tamil Nadu.
The Film’s Global Box-Office Collection
Along with Trisha, Regina Cassandra, and Arjun Sarja, Vidaamuyarchi may have crossed the mark of worldwide box office collections at Rs 125 crore. It is currently at Rs 126.50 crore and likely to finish its lifetime worldwide at below Rs 150 crore. Considering its large-scale production and star cast, the figure is considered to be a blockbuster disappointment.
Expectations on Future from Ajith Kumar
Although Vidaamuyarchi has not lived at all to the expectations, the Ajith Kumar fans are keen on the next release, Good Bad Ugly, which is cumulatively expected to fare better at the box office.
Although Vidaamuyarchi did not do well, Ajith Kumar still stands as one of the largest superstars from the Tamil film industry and with this comes several projects from the actor, many of which are already widely speculated about.
