Daaku Maharaaj, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, Bobby Deol, and Urvashi Rautela, has completed 15 days at the box office, showing a mixed performance overall. The film, produced by Sithara Entertainments, opened on a strong note, becoming one of the biggest openers for Balakrishna. However, after the Sankranti holidays, the film struggled to maintain momentum.

As per estimates, Daaku Maharaaj has reportedly grossed about ₹119 crore worldwide, in its 15-day run. On paper, these are respectful numbers, but they aren’t sufficient to even break even with regard to production costs and the star value of this project. Weekend of Republic Day gave it a slight fillip, though that was insufficient in changing the underwhelming trend seen post-Sankranti.

Despite getting positive reviews in the Telugu states, the film’s performance has been marred by the fact that it is competing with Venkatesh’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam. The action-comedy, helmed by Anil Ravipudi, is enjoying a blockbuster wave, pulling in significant audiences away from Daaku Maharaaj. Sankranthiki Vasthunam is on course to achieving a global box office total of ₹225 crore, further eclipsing Balakrishna’s film.

Recent release of Daaku Maharaaj in Hindi-dubbed format could not help the movie, as it couldn’t gather enough momentum to give a good opening at North Indian box offices. Presently moving southwards, this film may complete its theatrical run with an average rating.

Although Daaku Maharaaj started good and received decent numbers during the Republic Day weekend, stiff competition has tampered with the overall potential of this film at the box office. Now, the filmmakers along with its fans will hope for a better performance in the digital as well as the satellite market to recover the investment.
