Irumudi continued its strong run at the Indian box office on its second Friday. The Ravi Teja starrer collected approximately Rs. 12.50 crore on Day 8, showing a 40 per cent jump compared with the previous day. The film recorded only a 27 per cent drop from its opening Friday last week, which indicates that audience interest has remained strong even after completing its first week.
With the latest collection, Irumudi has earned around Rs. 120 crore in India in eight days. Based on its current performance, the film is now targeting the Rs. 150 crore mark by Sunday. If the strong momentum continues over the weekend, the movie could move closer to the Rs. 200 crore mark during its full theatrical run.
The film has performed particularly well in the Telugu states. Irumudi collected approximately Rs. 11.50 crore in the region on its second Friday. This is reportedly the second highest second Friday collection of all time in the Telugu states. RRR remains ahead with Rs. 14.50 crore, while Irumudi has moved ahead of films such as Pushpa 2 and Kalki 2898 AD.
An important point about Irumudi’s performance is its ticket pricing. The film has reportedly been running at lower ticket prices compared with Pushpa 2 and Kalki 2898 AD. This means its footfalls are even stronger when the collections are compared on a relative basis.
Irumudi has now crossed Rs. 100 crore in the twin Telugu states alone. The latest second Friday performance has also made a Rs. 200 crore finish in India a realistic possibility. If the film continues to maintain its current pace, its final collection could go beyond that figure.
The film has already moved into the blockbuster category and is now being watched for how high its final numbers can go. Its performance over the second weekend will be important in determining whether it can move towards the higher end of expectations.
