Telugu film Irumudi has had a strong first week at the Indian box office, showing an impressive trend in its daily collections. The film collected around Rs. 8.25 crore on Thursday, taking its first week total to approximately Rs. 107.50 crore in India. The film has also performed well overseas, where it has earned around USD 1.85 million, which is approximately Rs. 17.50 crore. With this overseas business added, Irumudi has reached a worldwide gross of around Rs. 125 crore after its first week.
The biggest contribution has come from the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The film collected approximately Rs. 7.75 crore in the two states on Thursday. This is close to the Rs. 8.50 crore that Pushpa 2 collected on a similar day, showing just how strong the film’s run has been.
Irumudi had faced some competition from the release of Toxic, which affected its number of shows in several locations. However, the weaker response to Toxic has helped Irumudi regain some of the lost shows sooner than expected. Some improvement was already seen in Nizam on Thursday, while Andhra Pradesh is expected to see further changes by Sunday or Monday.
The film is now heading towards a strong second weekend. In the AP and Telangana markets, Irumudi is expected to cross the Rs. 100 crore mark today. By the end of the weekend, its total in the region could move beyond Rs. 125 crore.
If the current trend continues, the film could comfortably target Rs. 150 crore and potentially Rs. 175 crore in the coming days. The Rs. 200 crore milestone is also now within reach, although its final result will depend on how well the film performs in the coming weeks.
The current territorial breakdown shows Rs. 95.50 crore from AP and Telangana, including Rs. 45.75 crore from Nizam, Rs. 13.75 crore from Ceded and Rs. 36.00 crore from Andhra. Karnataka has contributed Rs. 8.50 crore, while the rest of India has added Rs. 3.50 crore.
Overall, Irumudi has emerged as a major box office success and is currently on track for a bigger run if its strong momentum continues.
