Telugu film Irumudi continues its strong run at the Indian box office. The film collected approximately Rs. 4.50 crore on its 2nd Thursday, taking its second week total to around Rs. 68 crore. This represents a 36 per cent drop compared with its first week, which is considered a strong hold, especially for a Telugu film where collections often tend to be higher during the opening days.
After two weeks in theatres, Irumudi has recorded an India gross of approximately Rs. 174.75 crore. The film has also performed well overseas, where it has collected USD 2.25 million / Rs. 21 crore. This takes its worldwide gross to approximately Rs. 196 crore.
With the film already close to the Rs. 200 crore mark, it is expected to reach the milestone today. Irumudi is also expected to cross the Rs. 200 crore gross mark in India during its third week, depending on how collections perform in the coming days.
In AP/TS, the film has grossed approximately Rs. 157.25 crore, placing it among the top fifteen highest grossing films of all time in the region. Its second week collection in the twin states stood at around Rs. 62 crore, which ranks as the fifth highest second week total of all time. It is just below Pushpa 2, which recorded Rs. 62.50 crore.
The film’s weekday collections have shown some stability, with business falling by around 15 to 25 per cent each day. This has helped Irumudi maintain its momentum after the strong second weekend.
The film has also benefited from a clear run at the box office, giving it an opportunity to add more collections in the coming days. Only seven films have crossed the Rs. 200 crore gross mark in India so far, and Irumudi is now close to joining that group.
What makes the performance notable is that Irumudi is achieving this milestone with ticket prices that are considerably lower than those of the seven films that have already crossed the mark.
