Irumudi creates box office history on 3rd Friday, beats Baahubali 2 record in Telugu states

Ravi Teja’s Irumudi collects Rs. 6.50 crore on 3rd Friday, beats Baahubali 2’s record in APTS and crosses Rs. 200 crore worldwide.

Telugu film Irumudi has continued its strong run at the Indian box office as it entered its third week. The Ravi Teja starrer collected around Rs. 6.25 to Rs. 6.50 crore on its third Friday, taking its total collection in India to approximately Rs. 181.50 crore after 15 days. A major part of the third Friday collection came from the Telugu speaking states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where the film earned around Rs. 6 crore. The collection became a record for the highest gross by any film on its third Friday in the twin states. It went past the previous benchmark of Rs. 5.50 crore set by Baahubali: The Conclusion.

The third Friday numbers were helped by the Janmashtami holiday, which brought more audiences to theatres. Even without the holiday factor, the collection would have placed Irumudi among the top three films for a third Friday in the Telugu states.

After 15 days, Irumudi has collected approximately Rs. 181.50 crore in India. Around Rs. 164 crore of this amount has come from the Telugu states. The film has also performed well in overseas markets, where it has added approximately Rs. 22 crore. As a result, Irumudi crossed the Rs. 200 crore mark worldwide on Friday.

The film collected Rs. 107.00 crore in its first week and Rs. 68.00 crore in its second week. Its third Friday collection stands at Rs. 6.50 crore, taking the overall Indian total to Rs. 181.50 crore.

Irumudi is now expected to cross Rs. 200 crore in India before the end of its third week. It is also aiming to cross the same milestone in the Telugu states, although the target is now considered less certain than it appeared after the second weekend.

So far, only seven films have reportedly crossed Rs. 200 crore in APTS. Most of those films achieved the figure with increased ticket prices. Irumudi is attempting to reach the milestone without increased ticket rates, which makes its potential achievement notable in terms of audience footfalls.

The territorial breakdown shows AP and Telangana contributing Rs. 163.75 crore, Karnataka Rs. 13.00 crore and the rest of India Rs. 4.75 crore, taking the total to Rs. 181.50 crore.
