Actor and singer Taaruk Raina, known for Mismatched, lands yet another project; this time, he is part of yet another powerful historical drama called The Waking of a Nation, based on the horrific Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919, which is set to go on air on Sony LIV on March 7. The show, directed by the award-winning Ram Madhvani, a National Awardwinning and International Emmy-nominated director, seeks to throw light on one of the most crucial times of India’s struggle for independence.
A Powerful Story Rooted in History
The Waking of a Nation has a narrower focus, concentrated solely on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre happenings, tending toward the milieu and viewing the factors which pushed this dark chapter of Indian history. It follows Kantilal Sahni, played by Taaruk Raina, as he unmask an underlying conspiracy driven by colonialist efforts and white supremacy. The show twists this slice of history by viewing it through the Hunter Commission inquiry, bringing with it a new twist of events that rocked the nation.
