The trailer of Udta Teer, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan, was unveiled today, offering a glimpse into a story built around mistaken identity, action and comedy. Directed by Akash A Kaushik, the film brings Ayushmann and Sara together for the second time after Pati Patni Aur Woh Do!. The tagline, “Deshbhakti toh yaad hai… par desh nahi,” sets the tone for a story filled with confusion, humour and unexpected situations.
Ayushmann plays Bilal, a Pakistani spy who loses his memory after an explosion. When he wakes up, he believes he is an Indian counter terrorism officer. This confusion becomes the main source of comedy, as Bilal begins behaving like a patriotic Indian officer while his Pakistani handlers struggle to understand what has happened to their trained agent. The trailer shows how the mix up leads to a series of unusual situations, with action and humour forming the core of the story.
Sara Ali Khan plays a counter terrorism operative who joins Bilal in the unfolding events. The film appears to combine political satire with action and comedy, using the spy’s mistaken identity to create situations that question loyalty, identity and the meaning of patriotism. The trailer also gives a glimpse of the film’s dialogues and comic moments.
Udta Teer is backed by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment. The film marks Akash A Kaushik’s directorial debut, and he has also written the story. Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain are the producers. The supporting cast includes Ram Kapoor, Rahul Bose, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev and Suhail Nayyar.
Ayushmann also has another project lined up, Ye Prem Mol Liya, directed by Sooraj Barjatya and co starring Sharvari. The film is backed by Rajshri Productions in association with Mahaveer Jain Films and was announced in April this year.
