Ananya Panday had been on a career high with Kho Gaye Hum Kahan but earlier ones, especially Liger, were quite weak. The box office disaster where Vijay Deverakonda starred along with Chunky Panday in one of the other roles. Here’s what he said about this in a chat with Mashable India: Ananya was never in favour of the film Liger.
“When she asked me if she should do this film, she felt she was too young for it,” Chunky recalled. “She said, ‘Papa, I am too young to do this.’ I told her it was a big commercial film, but maybe she was right.” Ananya, who debuted in Student of the Year 2 at 18, felt that her youthful appearance made her an odd fit for Liger. Chunky said that Ananya was not at ease with the project. “She was confused then,” he said.
Following the failure of Liger, Chunky did not influence Ananya’s career choices again. He said if she had sought his advice for Call Me Bae, he would have told her not to do it. But, Call Me Bae was a success. Ananya made her OTT debut. “From that day, I never pressured her. Maybe I was wrong. I am old school. If she had asked me, ‘Papa, should I do Bae?’ I would have said no,” he revealed.
Previously, Ananya shared on We Are Yuvaa’s YouTube that she was pretty moved by the disappointing performances of Liger. She even asked her dad to stop giving her advice about films.
Looking ahead, Ananya will feature with Akshay Kumar and R Madhavan in the upcoming project. She will also start shooting for Call Me Bae 2 and is said to be finalized in Anurag Basu’s film with Kartik Aaryan.
