Aditya Seal and Anushka Ranjan have entered a new phase of their lives after welcoming twin daughters on August 23. The couple, who got married on November 21, 2021, chose IVF to become parents after facing difficulties while trying to conceive naturally. Anushka recently spoke about her journey, the challenges she faced and her decision to undergo IVF during a podcast with Soha Ali Khan.
Anushka revealed that she and Aditya decided to start a family in 2023. They initially tried to conceive naturally after consulting a doctor. However, she felt that waiting for a long period was not the right option for her.
She shared, “In 2023, Adi and I decided that we wanted to start a family, and we were trying naturally. We went to a doctor at a very big hospital, and she told us that we could try for six months to a year naturally and check on my ovulation days. But that didn’t seem like the right way to go about it because I am not in my 20s.”
Anushka also explained that she had always wanted two children because she understood the importance of having a sibling. She first tried IUI, which is a less intensive fertility treatment than IVF, but the process proved emotionally difficult for her.
She said, “I always wanted to have two kids because I know the value of having a sibling. So I was like, I have to do it soon. I went to another doctor who advised me to try IUI, a very, very milder version of IVF. But even then, I had to take a lot of medicines and injections, and it was causing me a lot of emotional problems. This happened in 2025. Later, I again tried for IUI, and it failed. My doctor was very upset, and then she told me to try one more cycle before jumping to IVF. But I was like, if we are anyway upping the medication, we might as well try IVF. So that’s when we decided to do it.”
The couple began their first IVF cycle in November 2025, which was successful and eventually resulted in Anushka conceiving twins. She recalled that the injections were among the most difficult parts of the process.
Anushka also spoke about dealing with unsolicited advice during her fertility journey. She said, “People keep telling me to listen to the Bhagavad Gita and all, and I say I listen to the Hanuman Chalisa because I like listening to the Hanuman Chalisa. That keeps my peace of mind. I just don’t like people giving me faltu ka gyan.”
She also remembered becoming seriously unwell during her sister Akanksha Ranjan’s wedding. She said, “I got very sick during my sister’s wedding. I was running a serious fever, and we had to run to the hospital to get the scan done.”
Aditya and Anushka first met at an event hosted by her family. After dating for around four years, Aditya proposed to Anushka in Paris on her birthday. The couple married in 2021 and have now welcomed their twin daughters.
