Archana Puran Singh is one of the familiar faces of Hindi films and television, but not many people know about her life before her marriage to actor Parmeet Sethi. Before finding love with Parmeet, Archana was married to Gurinder Singh, who was reportedly known as Sunny Reyar in the modelling industry. According to available biographical accounts, Archana and Gurinder got married in the 1980s. However, their marriage did not last long and the couple eventually separated and divorced.
Archana has generally kept details about her first marriage private. She has, however, spoken about how her earlier experience affected the way she looked at relationships. In an interview quoted by ETimes, she said, “After my previous failed marriage, I never wanted to have another man in my life. But with Parmeet, I realised that men can be gentle, loving and sensitive, and not all of them are violent and possessive. Parmeet is an absolute antithesis of a male chauvinist.”
There have also been reports about Gurinder Singh’s death. According to IMDb’s biography of Archana Puran Singh, Gurinder, who was reportedly known as Sunny Reyar in modelling circles, died in 1991 on Diwali after accidentally shooting himself. The same biography describes him as a model who had also appeared in advertisements. However, News18 reported that these claims could not be independently verified.
After her divorce, Archana had reportedly decided that she would not marry again. Her plans changed after she met Parmeet Sethi at a party through mutual friends. The two gradually became close and eventually entered into a live in relationship. They later decided to get married. Archana and Parmeet tied the knot on June 30, 1992. The couple kept their marriage private for several years. Archana has also spoken about facing opposition from Parmeet’s family and why they chose to keep their wedding away from the public eye at that time.
Over the years, Archana and Parmeet built a family together and became parents to two sons, Aaryamann Sethi and Ayushmaan Sethi. Their relationship has also become a familiar part of their public lives.
Archana has enjoyed a long career in both films and television. She made her screen debut with Jalwa in 1987 and later appeared in films such as Agneepath, Raja Hindustani, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Mohabbatein, Krrish, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, Bol Bachchan and Kick. On television, she became popular through shows including Shrimaan Shrimati, Comedy Circus and The Kapil Sharma Show. She has also hosted and judged several programmes and later became a permanent guest on The Great Indian Kapil Show.
Parmeet Sethi made his acting debut in 1995 with Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, where he played Kuljeet Singh. The role remains one of his best known performances. He later appeared in films including Diljale, Dhadkan, Lakshya, Om Jai Jagadish, Kaal, Rustom, Dil Dhadakne Do, Laila Majnu and Mission Majnu. He also turned director with Badmaash Company in 2010 and has worked across television and streaming projects.
