Varun Dhawan and the team of Baby John are preparing for an exciting release with a lot of attention around the action-packed premise of the film and the star-studded cast. Directed by Kalees, the film is said to be an adaptation of Atlee’s 2016 Tamil blockbuster, Theri, although Varun Dhawan has been vocal about it not being a direct remake. Instead, they’ve undergone considerable changes to fit into the new setting and audience. The movie’s lead three actors include Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh (who debuts in Bollywood), and Wamiqa Gabbi. The antagonist is being played by Jackie Shroff.

Release Date: Baby John will be in theaters on  December 25, during the holiday season.

Promotion: The team has been very proactive in promoting the film, which included a visit to the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain before the release for offering prayers.

Varun’s Thoughts: Varun, speaking with the media recently, underlined faith, said, “God is bigger than the film,” and hopes for success at the box office.

Though a lot of buzz, Baby John faces stiff competition in the hands of a gigantic hit Pushpa 2: The Rule, with Allu Arjun. Still, the advance booking has given it a decent start with numbers still low, almost close to 50,000 tickets sold and having raked in ₹2 crore so far.

Unique Positioning of the Film:
Varun Dhawan’s statement clarifies that while Baby John draws inspiration from Theri, it is not a one-to-one remake. The film features adaptations to better align with a new narrative and setting. This could potentially bring a fresh perspective, even for those familiar with the original.

Having watched a lot of high-octane, big stakes, drama, and action at Atlee’s command, Baby John could make its mark for itself in the action-thriller genre, and Pushpa 2 might still win at the box office despite all that. Fans are eager to see how well the movie does against all that.
