One of Indian cinema’s most ambitious projects, Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, is rapidly becoming the talk of the town. The mythological epic, which dropped its first teaser on July 3, 2025, has captivated audiences with its breathtaking visuals and powerful ensemble.
Star-Studded Cast Brings Epic to Life
The teaser had confirmed Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash in his vicious makeover as Raavana. The movie also stars Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. The casting has found high praise, and there’s much anticipation around how the iconic classic will be retold on screen.
But the news that Bobby Deol would be essaying Kumbhakarna, Raavana’s brother, had caused confusion. A reliable source has now explained to Bollywood Hungama that Bobby is not a part of the project. “The reports are false. His name suddenly popped up,” said the insider.
Separating Fact from Rumor
The source was asking the fans to be able to make a distinction between rumour and established fact, stating, “Ramayana is one of the most awaited films of 2026. With its magnitude, rumour about casting is unavoidable. But let’s not be paranoid without official word.” With hype over the movie building day by day, it’s evident that every piece of information counts to agog fans.

Epic in Scale, Vision, and Timeline
Ramayana will be told over two parts, Part 1 of which will release on Diwali in 2026 and Part 2 on Diwali in 2027. The project is touted to mix mythology, visual splendor, and star power on an unprecedented scale.
While this is happening, Bobby Deol, last seen in a cameo in Housefull 5, is keeping himself occupied with big-ticket movies like Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1, Alpha, and Jana Nayagan, all ready in 2026.
