Actor Chunky Panday recently shared a funny story from his teenage years involving veteran actress Zeenat Aman. The actor revealed that his admiration for Zeenat was so strong that he went to an unusual extreme just to watch one of her films on the big screen.
Chunky shared the story on the dance reality show India’s Best Dancer Season 5, where Zeenat Aman appeared as a special guest. While talking about the impact Zeenat had on him when he was young, Chunky remembered his attempts to watch her 1978 film Satyam Shivam Sundaram.
The film had an adult rating at the time, which meant Chunky could not enter the cinema because he was only 15 years old. However, that did not stop him from trying. He revealed that he made several attempts to get inside the theatre, but each time he was caught and sent back.
“Zeenat ji, aapko pata hai, main pehli baar ladki bhi aapki wajah se bana, I swear to God. Aapki jo film lagi thi Satyam Shivam Sundaram aur woh adult picture thi. Toh main 15 saal ka tha, toh maine teen-chaar baar koshish ki cinema theatre mein jaane ke liye. Hamesha mujhe bahar phenk dete the. Fir end mein maine burqa pehen ke chala gaya.”
Chunky’s hilarious confession left the people on the show amused. His story highlighted just how much of an impact Zeenat had on young movie fans during her peak years.
The episode also featured choreographer and India’s Best Dancer judge Terence Lewis, who spoke about Zeenat’s influence on fashion. He remembered her iconic style, especially the yellow sunglasses that became part of her memorable look.
“Zeenat ji, jo aapka yellow sunglasses the, aapne pehna, I can’t forget that. It was so simple but so striking and you look awesome. I feel whole fashion has come back into that safe zone and those big sunglasses who styled you like this,” Terence said.
Zeenat then revealed that the stylish look was not created by a professional stylist. She explained that she had styled herself after returning from Southern California.
“I just came back from Southern California and, may I say that, I styled it myself,” Zeenat said.
The conversation gave viewers a glimpse into Zeenat’s lasting influence on both Bollywood actors and fashion. While Chunky remembered her from the perspective of a teenage fan, Terence highlighted how her style continues to remain memorable even decades later.
