Bollywood star Deepika Padukone may be stepping away from two major upcoming projects Spirit and Kalki 2 due to creative differences and her revised work preferences following motherhood.
Removed from ‘Spirit’ Over Work Demands
Recent reports indicate that Deepika Padukone has been removed from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film Spirit. According to sources, the actress’s demands for an eight-hour workday, a high salary, and a share in the film’s profits reportedly led to a fallout with the director. Vanga, known for his intense storytelling style, took to social media platform X to criticize Deepika, accusing her of “dirty PR games” and indirectly calling out her alleged breach of trust.
He wrote, “When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith… You’ve ‘DISCLOSED’ the person that you are… Putting down a younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for?” He further added a Hindi proverb implying frustration on Deepika’s part, ending with the hashtag #dirtyPRgames.
Kalki 2 Role Also in Question
Adding to the controversy, an unverified report by Bollywood.mobi suggests that Deepika may also be dropped from Kalki 2, starring Prabhas. The reason again circles back to her reduced availability and demands for limited working hours post-motherhood. While there’s been no official confirmation from the Kalki 2 team, the speculation has sparked widespread discussion.

Triptii Dimri Joins ‘Spirit’ as Lead
Following Deepika’s alleged exit from Spirit, actress Triptii Dimri has been confirmed as the new female lead. Dimri, who previously worked with Vanga in Animal, shared her excitement on social media, saying she’s “grateful to be trusted” with the role and honoured to be part of Vanga’s vision.
