The late Jagit Singh became the First ‘ghazal’ singer in the country to have a commemorative postal stamp released in his memory by the stamp department of India. The department released two stamps of Jagjit Singh in different poses worth Rs. 5 and Rs. 20, respectively.

The stamp was released by the honorable Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh in the presence of the Communication and Information Technology Minister Kapil Sibal, Prime Minister’s wife Gursharan Kaur and Jagjit Singh’s wife Chitra Singh.
