Hanuman Ansh has emerged as one of the biggest surprise hits of the year. Now, fans of the film have another reason to celebrate as director Vishal Chaturvedi has confirmed that a sequel is on the way.
As reported by Hindustan Times, Vishal Chaturvedi recently interacted with audiences at a multiplex in Agra, where he confirmed Hanuman Ansh 2. The filmmaker also shared some details about the story of the upcoming film. According to him, the sequel will explore important chapters from the life of Neem Karoli Baba, also known as Maharaj Ji.
Vishal revealed that Hanuman Ansh 2 will focus on Firozabad, which is associated with Neem Karoli Baba’s birthplace. The story will then look at how and why he travelled to places such as Agra, Mathura and other locations as part of his spiritual journey. More information about the cast, shooting schedule and release date is expected to be announced later.
Neem Karoli Baba was a Hindu spiritual teacher and a devoted follower of Lord Hanuman. His birth name is generally given as Lakshman Narayan Sharma. He was born around 1900 in Akbarpur village in present day Uttar Pradesh and passed away on September 11, 1973, in Vrindavan.
Several stories about Neem Karoli Baba have been shared by his followers over the years. Many of these accounts describe miracles and extraordinary incidents connected to his life. However, such stories largely come from the memories and experiences of devotees and are therefore better understood as part of the spiritual tradition surrounding him rather than independently verified historical events.
Meanwhile, Hanuman Ansh has enjoyed an impressive run at the box office. The film reportedly opened with around Rs 10 lakh on its first day. Despite the slow start, it continued to gain attention as more viewers recommended it to others.
Made on a reported budget of around Rs 2 crore, the film crossed the Rs 40 crore mark in India within 24 days and later went past Rs 50 crore. Its performance has made it one of the year’s most unexpected sleeper hits. Celebrities including Kangana Ranaut and Madhur Bhandarkar have also praised the film.
