Insidious: Out Of The Further saw a sharp drop in its box office collection on the first Monday after recording a decent opening weekend. The horror film earned Rs 90 lakh net in India on Day 4, falling below the Rs 1 crore mark.
According to Sacnilk estimates, the film recorded a 73.1% drop compared with its Sunday collection of Rs 3.35 crore. With the Monday figures added, the film’s total India net collection has reached Rs 10.50 crore. Its India gross collection currently stands at Rs 12.52 crore.
The English version contributed the highest amount on Day 4, collecting Rs 40 lakh. The Hindi version followed with Rs 35 lakh, while the Telugu and Tamil versions added Rs 10 lakh and Rs 5 lakh respectively.
The film opened in India with Rs 2.60 crore on Friday. It showed growth on Saturday, when collections increased to Rs 3.65 crore. However, Sunday saw a slight decline, with the film collecting Rs 3.35 crore. The major fall came on Monday, when the collection dropped to Rs 90 lakh.
The film has also been performing in international markets. Made by Blumhouse, the horror sequel was reportedly produced on a budget of $18 million. It has collected more than $25.3 million in North America, while its worldwide box office collection has reached $60.3 million.
Insidious: Out Of The Further is the sixth film in the Insidious franchise and follows the events of 2023’s Insidious: The Red Door. The supernatural horror story centres on Gemma, a young woman who has the ability to communicate with spirits and bring them into the real world. Her unusual ability soon puts her in danger as sinister forces begin targeting her.
Jacob Chase has written and directed the film. The cast includes Amelia Eve as Gemma, along with Brandon Perea and Maisie Richardson Sellers. Lin Shaye returns as Elise Rainier, while Sam Spruell plays Cyrus Lam, a mysterious cult leader.
Released in Indian theatres on August 21, the film is available in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Its first Monday performance will now be important in determining whether the film can recover during the rest of its theatrical run.
