Akshay Kumar fans, get ready! The much-awaited Hera Pheri 3 is finally happening, and director Priyadarshan has confirmed it. In an exciting announcement on his birthday, January 30, Priyadarshan took to Instagram to share the news, much to the delight of fans. The veteran filmmaker, who has been behind some of the most iconic Bollywood comedies, revealed that he will be returning to the director’s chair for the next installment of the beloved franchise.
Priyadarshan posted a thank-you message to Akshay Kumar, who had wished him a happy birthday earlier. He wrote, “Thank you so much for your wishes @akshaykumar. In return, I would like to give you a gift. I’m willing to do Hera Pheri 3. Are you ready Akshay, @suniel.shetty & @pareshrawalofficial?” This confirmed long-standing rumors and set the stage for the reunion of the iconic trio of Akshay, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal.
Earlier in the day, Akshay had posted a birthday wish for Priyadarshan on Instagram, with an accompanying playful caption: “Happy Birthday, Priyan Sir! What better way to celebrate than by spending the day on a haunted set, surrounded by ghosts.both real and unpaid extras? Thank you for being a mentor, and the only person who can make chaos look like a masterpiece.” The two are shooting presently for their horror-comedy, Bhooth Bangla, but the fans of the Hera Pheri saga would surely be fixated on the confirmed return of the legendary series.
The duo has earlier given some iconic films together, such as Hera Pheri (2000), Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), Khatta Meetha (2010), and Bhagam Bhag (2006). Thus, the news of their reunion is all the more exciting for fans. Though a picture from a mock shoot had surfaced in 2023, there was no official confirmation about Hera Pheri 3 till now.
