Jaya Bachchan gets angryt with Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh being called 'Jaya Amitabh Bachchan' in Parliament

Actor-politician Jaya Bachchan expressed her discontent in the Rajya Sabha when Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh addressed her as “Shrimati Jaya Amitabh Bachchan ji” during a parliament session. Jaya Bachchan, emphasizing her own identity, responded, “Sir, sirf Jaya Bachchan bolte to kaafi hojata (It would’ve been enough to call me Jaya Bachchan).” Despite the explanation that her official name includes her husband’s name, Jaya critiqued the societal trend of women being identified by their husbands’ names, arguing that it negates their own achievements and identities.

Fans supported her stance, with many acknowledging her point about women’s individual identities. Some questioned the necessity of adding her husband’s name if she hadn’t chosen to do so herself. One fan pointed out the selective outrage on social media, suggesting that the reaction would be different if another woman had raised the same issue. They highlighted Jaya Bachchan’s successful career before becoming a “Bachchan” and lauded her for speaking up.

Navya Naveli Nanda, Jaya Bachchan’s granddaughter, had previously spoken to Her Circle in 2021, calling her grandmother her “inspiration.” Navya praised Jaya for creating her own identity and making a significant impact, admiring her unapologetic, straightforward nature and her dedication to using her voice for the causes she believes in.

Amidst ongoing rumors of a rift between Aishwarya Rai and the Bachchan family, a throwback moment from 2007 has resurfaced, showcasing the strong bond within the family. This moment occurred during an award ceremony where Jaya Bachchan was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by Filmfare. The entire Bachchan family, including Aishwarya, was present to support Jaya. As Jaya was called on stage, Aishwarya, along with other family members, enthusiastically clapped and cheered for her mother-in-law. During her acceptance speech, Jaya announced that she had no plans to retire from films, stating, “Forget it, I’m not retiring. I’ve just begun again.” She expressed gratitude to director Satyajit Ray for his influence and acknowledged Hrishikesh Mukherjee as a father-like figure whose absence she deeply felt.

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, who got married in April 2007 and have a daughter, Aaradhya, born in November 2011, have been the subject of recent speculation about potential issues in their marriage. Observations of Aishwarya attending events solo, such as her recent appearances at an Ambani event without the Bachchan family, have fueled these rumors. Additionally, her social media activity and solo trips have led to further speculation. However, fans of the couple argue that Aishwarya and Abhishek prefer to maintain their privacy and keep their personal lives out of the public eye.

Navya Naveli Nanda, Jaya Bachchan’s granddaughter, has previously praised her grandmother’s independent identity and strong voice. In a 2021 interview with Her Circle, Navya described Jaya as her inspiration, highlighting her unapologetic and straightforward nature, as well as her commitment to the causes she is passionate about. This admiration reflects the respect and close relationship within the Bachchan family, despite external rumors and speculations.
