Priyanka Chopra is set to make her highly anticipated return to Indian cinema with SSMB 29, directed by SS Rajamouli, but it’s not just her professional life that’s making headlines. In a recent interview with Lehren Retro, her mother, Madhu Chopra, revealed a touching story about Priyanka’s love and care during a difficult time.
Madhu recalled that just six days after the passing of her husband, Priyanka insisted on going ahead with a birthday celebration for her. Madhu was turning 60 on June 16, and despite the family’s grief, Priyanka went ahead with the planned party. Madhu shared, “He passed away on June 10, and my birthday is on June 16. Priyanka insisted that we celebrate, saying, ‘That’s what Dad would have wanted.’”

John Abraham’s Surprise Appearance
Adding a special touch to the party, Priyanka arranged for actor John Abraham to make a surprise appearance. Madhu, a fan of John, recalled, “They had requested John to come at midnight, wrapped like a birthday present. Imagine that!” Priyanka made sure the celebration was joyful, despite the sorrow surrounding the family. As Madhu reflected, “My daughter arranged all this; my kids put in so much effort. They’re all suffering and grieving, but this is how she is honoring her dad.”
Priyanka’s determination to carry on her father’s wish for the celebration touched her family deeply. Despite the somber atmosphere among some family members, Priyanka’s exuberance was a way to honor her father’s memory.
