Kamal Haasan was awarded the lifetime achievement award at the 15th Mumbai Film Festival.

The elated actor said, ”There are many more deserving people. I am happy that I was somehow allowed to jump the queue.”
The filmmaker further added, ”There never was a method to my acting. I simply had great teachers, some of whom are present here tonight. I respect them a lot. Apart from my family I thank Mr. K. Balachander with whom I had the honour of working in 36 films. People say that he discovered me; I somehow have this feeling that he invented me.”
Kaman Haasan also said, ”Festivals have also taught me a lot and I am humbled to have received this honour. I thank the Mumbai Film Festival for promoting talent such as myself.”
