Madhur Bhandarkar, known for his critically acclaimed films like Chandni Bar, Page 3, Fashion, and Traffic Signal, has now come up with new information regarding his long-delayed project, Inspector Ghalib. The action drama, which was put on the backburner during the pandemic, is now back on the director’s mind.
What is Inspector Ghalib?
The film is about a policeman of Uttar Pradesh. As Bhandarkar puts it, this character is to be portrayal as deep and action-packed.
The director wanted to cast Shah Rukh Khan in the title role. This will be both actors first collaboration with each other.
Bhandarkar shared, “This is a very good script, and I always wanted to make such a film. Its subject is very beautiful and compelling.”

Status of the Film
The script for Inspector Ghalib is complete and remains untouched since it was last developed. However, Bhandarkar noted that there is still some refinement needed before moving forward.
The project was put on hold during the pandemic, and Bhandarkar lost contact with Shah Rukh Khan during this time. However, he is hopeful about resuming the discussions.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Current Lineup
Currently, Shah Rukh Khan is in the limelight due to King, an action thriller directed by Siddharth Anand. This film will be the first big collaboration of Suhana Khan with her father.
Since King is already making waves, the prospects for Inspector Ghalib may add another action-packed series to SRK’s kitty.

While Madhur Bhandarkar has not confirmed any concrete timeline, he hinted at pursuing the project when the time feels right. He concluded, “I want to make this film, but I will only proceed when I feel it is the right moment.”
