Maddock Films is set to release its latest film, Munjya, a horror-comedy directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and starring Mona Singh, Abhay Verma, and Sharvari. The film, hitting theaters tomorrow, has already created a buzz with its teaser, featuring a clever nod to Malaika Arora’s iconic song “Munni Badnaam Hui”. In Munjya, the lead character, a CGI creature, is on a quest to find his mysterious Munni.
In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon, the cast discussed whether they had shown the teaser to Malaika Arora and her potential reaction. Sharvari stated, “I don’t know her personally.” Mona added, “I know her as a friend. I’m sure she must have seen the trailer and is probably wondering, ‘Munni toh yahan hai’ (laughs).”
Sharvari further elaborated, “But she has truly added charm to our teaser. We have to give credit; the song is iconic. The moment we combined the creature with the song, people were laughing and resonating with it. She brought everything together for our teaser, and we are really grateful.”
The interview also delved into the making of Munjya and its unique CGI character. Sharvari, known for her role in Taras, spoke about moving beyond her girl-next-door image and showcasing her range in this horror-comedy, as well as her upcoming projects, including a spy-thriller with Alia Bhatt and Vedaa.
To celebrate the film’s release, Maddock Films has announced special midnight shows of Munjya today at select theaters across the country.
With its blend of humor, horror, and a touch of nostalgia, Munjya promises to be an entertaining ride for audiences.
