Ashutosh Gowariker’s What’s Your Raashee?, a sort of romantic comedy, was not doing well in 2009. Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja play the lead roles in this movie that bears inspiration from the Gujarati novel Kimball Ravenswood. Ronnie Screwvala was set to back up this film; however, the movie failed miserably at the box office. Despite its promising premise, the film met mixed reviews from the public as well as critics.

Priyanka, who had played 12 different characters in the film, said it was one of the most challenging experiences of her career. She had put in immense effort to portray the diverse characters, but the movie’s performance at the box office left her heartbroken. In an interview, she shared, “I would be lying if I said What’s Your Raashee?’s failure didn’t impact me. It did. It broke my heart because there was a lot that went into the making of the film.” Despite the failure, Priyanka found solace in the positive feedback on her performance, admitting that if audiences had disliked her portrayal, it would have been deeply upsetting.

Harman Baweja, who was Yogesh B. Patel, also suffered a blow when the film did not do well. After the failure of the film, he decided to leave acting in films. What’s Your Raashee?  managed to gross a decent Rs 17 crore but suffered from its too long running time and mixed reviews. Priyanka did receive a nomination for the Screen Award for Best Actress, and her feat of playing 12 roles remains a unique achievement in her career. Despite the movie’s box office disappointment, the film’s ambitious nature and Priyanka’s dedication remain notable.
